Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company - Late player in the America silver business
The Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company was founded in the year 1886. The initial name for the company was called: Alvin Mfg. Co. The company was considered a late entry player to the Silver business in America. They originally had its headquarters in Invington, New Jersey but in the year 1895, it relocated to Sag Harbor in New York. It was only in New York where Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company begun introducing silverware based on historical patterns. In the year 1919, the company changed its name to Alvin Silver Co.
Unlike other silversmith during the period, Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company was unique as it produces flatware (Spoons etc), hollow ware (Tea Service, bowl) and even toilet-ware (Mirror, Brush & Comb Vanity Set)

Buyout by Gorham
Alvin passed away in the year 1928. Alvin's most significant and profitable Colonial reproductions brought it in direct competition with the then giant Gorham Company of Providence, Rhode Island. However Gorham had carefully negotiated the buyout of Alvin Silver Manufacturing. It is now functions as a division of Gorham which still produces some of the early Alvin patterns.
