World Silver Hallmarks
World Silver Hallmarks (American, English, Chinese & Mexico)
What is hallmarks?
Hallmarks are small little markings stamped on gold, silver and platinum articles. Unlike a fineness mark, a hallmark is a mark that indicates that an official (usually a local assayer) in a particular country guarantees that the item is made from a certain percentage of silver. It is somehow unusual or unlikely for hallmarks to be counterfeit. Hallmarks usually consist of a picture or a combination of a picture, alphabets and/or text. Pictures used are often of local or historically important animals, current or prior rulers / sovereigns and certain plants. Please read here for our section on Forged or Fake hallmark.
